EDUCATION

At SAPMAT, we believe in proactive and preventative approaches to supporting young people at risk of exclusion. Our outreach services are designed to provide schools and local authorities with the expertise and resources needed to create inclusive, supportive learning environments. Whether through audits and consultation, staff training, direct intervention with students, or providing alternative pathways and enhanced transitions, we are committed to helping schools reduce exclusions and improve outcomes for their students.

Our outreach offer is structured into three tiers to best serve the needs of our partner schools and beyond.

TIER 1: For Commissioning Local Authorities, Trusts & Schools

This level of outreach is available to SAPMAT commissioners. As trusted partners, these schools benefit from a range of free and traded services designed to prevent exclusions and support staff in managing challenging behaviours effectively.

Included Services

Initial Consultation: By advising on onsite curriculum and curriculum+ provision, we can help you to keep your vulnerable students in mainstream education, prevent off-site direction and avoid permanent exclusion. Access tools to significantly improve outcomes for your students with a provision review. This also includes how to get the most from your commissioned places
Student consultation: Prevent permanent exclusion by ensuring that appropriate, needs-based provision is in place for vulnerable students. We will meet with key staff, review paperwork and consult with individual students. We can also offer a chargeable, “top-up” mentoring service for students.
Staff CPD & Training – Free access to select training sessions on de-escalation, conflict resolution, and trauma-informed practice.
Student Transition Support – Support for reintegration following alternative provision placements.
On-Demand Case Reviews – Expert input on managing individual students at risk of exclusion.

Top Up Services Available

Bespoke Whole-School Training – Custom CPD packages beyond the core offer.
Inclusion, behaviour and curriculum review: Optimise your offer, improve outcomes and enhance your provision. A comprehensive audit of data, policies, procedures and case studies. We will meet with senior leaders and map out how to make gains in targeted areas. You’ll get a full report detailing quick wins, as well as medium and long-term actions and how to avoid own goals.
Emotion Coaching: "Helping children and young people to understand the different emotions they experience, why they occur and how to handle them." (Gottman 1996)
Bespoke Policy and Document adaptation, adjustment and creation
Internal Truancy Package
Internal Alternative Curriculum Set Up – Building on your free consultation and review, we can aid you in bringing proactive elements of AP in-house effectively, by helping you to set up a comprehensive programme of internal alternative provision and interventions to avoid permanent exclusion.
Extended Student Interventions – Additional intervention sessions or specialist provision.
Targeted Staff Coaching – Intensive 1:2:1 coaching for key pastoral staff on behaviour management and restorative approaches.
Training on relational behaviour approaches: Ensure best practice and maximise the impact of your behaviour protocols. Learn how to adapt your curriculum in a targeted way. We will review your policies and procedures, meet with key staff and offer training to staff groups or all staff.
Team Building: - Tailored to your specific needs, we offer customisable sessions ranging from half a day to three days. Build stronger, more cohesive teams with activities designed to foster collaboration and trust.

Tier 2: Support for Non-Commissioning Schools & Trusts

For schools not currently commissioning places with SAPMAT but interested in working with us, we offer a range of chargeable services to help manage student behaviour, reduce exclusions, and build staff capacity. This level allows schools to benefit from our expertise without a formal commissioning arrangement.

Tier 3: Corporate Programme

Our traded services are available to all organisations and businesses in both the public and private sector, looking to benefit from our expertise. These services are fully chargeable and can be tailored to meet specific needs.
